Victorian Figural Mandolin Inkwell

Victorian era figural inkwell, in the shape of a mandolin laying across sheet music.  The hinged cover reveals the ink pot and a space suitable for pen nibs.  The inkwell is cast iron with a naturally worn gilded patina; wear consistent with age and use.

Made in germany, circa 1880-1900. Trademarked on the bottom:

F. Hornemann, Berlin Dep. 1667 (the model number).

10” (25.4cm) wide, 7” (17.8cm) deep, 1 3/4” (4.5cm) at the highest.
