Japanese 950 Fine Silver coasters in the original presentation box, mid 20th century.

Impressed:  STERLING KUYEDA 950.  Technically sterling silver is 925 Fine but Japanese Export silver is often marked Sterling 950, meaning it is finer than sterling silver.

The presentation box is also identified:   K. Uyeda Jewellers, Imperial Hotel Tokyo * .

The coasters are 3 1/2” (8.9cm) diameter,

The box is 4 1/4” (10.8cm) square.

* K. Uyeda was founded by Kichigoro Uyeda on Ginza Dentsu Street, Tokyo in 1884.  The second generation owner, Fujiro Uyeda opened a retail outlet at the Imperial Hotel in 1922, specializing in luxury art goods for foreign visitors.  Fine decorative objets  such as cloisonné, ivory carvings, Satsuma porcelain and hand made silver tableware ware available.
