Victorian Silver Plate & Ruby Flash Glass Sardine Box

Victorian era silver plate sardine box, English, circa 1895.  The frame and cover are silver plated with the lid featuring a frieze of English ivy.  The glass box has a starburst pattern on the bottom and is trimmed in ruby flash.  The glass box has an impressed registration number on the bottom:  RD 252274, identifying the design registration date of 1895.

Other 21st century uses for this pretty Victorian box include a butter dish, candy box, jewel box, or for a desk or vanity table.
