Georg Jensen Bernadotte Bottle Opener

Vintage Georg Jensen “Bernadotte” pattern bottle opener.  Designed by Sigvard Bernadotte (1907-2002) in 1939 and available in sterling silver or stainless silver.  This example has a sterling silver handle with a stainless steel opener.  The opener shows mild wear on the handle, consistent with age and use.

* Sigvard Bernadotte was born a Prince of Sweden, the second son of the future king Gustaf VI Adolf and his first wife Princess Margaret of Connaught. He lost the use of his title and succession when he married a commoner without permission in 1934.  

He was an industrial designer by training, producing silver designs for Georg Jensen, designing typewriters, working in plastics and at one time, an assistant director at MGM Studios in California.
