Georg Jensen / Alphonse La Paglia * design # 100 “Blossom Time” sterling silver cordials, boxed set of 8 in the original presentation box.  The unadorned bowl is supported by a spherical knop and open floral-scroll domed base.

The cordials are 3” (7.6cm) high, 1 1/4” (3.2cm) diameter at the rim.

The box is 13 3/4” (35cm) by 6” (15.2cm), 2” (5.1cm) high.

$4500 for the boxed set.

* During the Second World War the Georg Jensen store in New York City commissioned American silversmiths to produce Jensen designs (under license) to meet the demand for Danish Modernist silver.  One of these companies was Frederick Lunning (GJ USA Inc.) 

Alphonse La Paglia (1907-1952), born in Sicily, studied silversmithing with Jensen in Denmark before the war.  He emigrated to the US and worked for Lunning and independently from his workshop in New Jersey and Connecticut.

This set is marked U.S.A.  L. P., identifying it as La Paglia’s work and 100, which is the Georg Jensen design number.
