Ornate Victorian sterling silver tankard, English hallmarks for London 1860.

The silversmith is Augustus George Piesse, whose work dates 1857-67.

This Georgian baluster shaped tankard features exuberant repousse work, of floral sprays in panels between a middle panel holding the original Script monogram, possibly “IHS”.  The applied S and C scroll handle is topped with a chased acanthus leaf thumb grip.  

5” (12.7cm) high, 5” (12.7cm) diameter across the tankard and handle.
