Allen & Darwin Silver Plate Dessert Serving Set, circa 1890s

Late Victorian silver plate dessert serving set, in the original presentation box.  Made by Allen & Darwin *, circa 1890s.  The handsome set is designed with a delicate floral scroll pattern engraved onto a simple silhouette; the perfect mix of Victorian exuberance and Edwardian simplicity!  The set is in very good condition and is not monogrammed, with the box shows very minor wear only to the exterior.  A perfect choice for a shower or wedding gift.

The cake/pie server is 10 1/4” (26cm) long.

The serving fork is 8 5/8” (22cm) long.

The serving/berry spoon is 8 7/8” (22.5cm) long.

The box is 11 1/2” (29.2cm) by 7” (17.8cm) 1 3/8” (3.5cm) high.

$695 for the boxed set.

* The silver firm was established by Charles James Allen and Sidney Darwin in 1893, with various addresses in London and Sheffield.  By 1928 the business name had been changed to Allen’s and was active until 1960.
