Davenport “Blue Willow” well and tree earthenware platter, circa 1820. The Davenport factory was established circa 1794 in Longport, Staffordshire. The legend of the Blue Willow is a Chinese legend of two tragic lovers transformed into lovebirds who fly away. It has been a popular theme in English blue and white china continually since the 1790s.
This platter is in remarkably good condition for being 200 years old!
