American Victorian sterling silver berry spoon, made by George Shiebler of Baltimore and New York, for Bigelow, Kennard & Co. of Boston, MA, circa 1890.  

Shiebler’s designs were influenced by 19th century excavations of Pompeii and Herculaneum from the Classical world, as is this example with the intertwined snake loop handle.  The scrolled bowl is satin finished with a gold wash.
