Trademarked Sanborns Mexico Sterling, D.F Hecho en Mexico (Distrito Federal, the federal district of Mexico City and made in Mexico) and the eagle symbol 22.
Sanborns opened as a pharmacy in 1903 by two American brothers from California, Walter and Frank Sanborn. By the 1920s the business had evolved into a luxury restaurant, confectionery and gift shop. Throughout the 20th century jewellery, fine gifts and table wares were made exclusively for Sanborns to retail.
