Sterling silver sugar castors, with cobalt blue glass liners, hallmarked Birmingham 1908. From the silversmiths William Hutton & Sons Ltd. of London and Birmingham, England. This distinguished pair of castors are in the original presentation box, made for E. et R. Altenloh, Jewellers, Watchmakers and Purveyors of Fine Gifts, Brussels, Belgium.
The sterling frames are in excellent condition, one of the glass liners has a barely perceptible hairline crack and is usable with care.
The red and gold presentation box shows some wear, consistent with age and use.
The sugar castors are 6 1/2” (16.5cm) high.
The box is 6 3/8” (16.2cm) by 7 7/8” (20cm), 3 1/2” (9cm) high.
