Whiting Sterling Silver Stilton Scoop, Made For G. Siefert Quebec City

Product Details

Victorian sterling silver stilton scoop in the original presentation box, circa 1897-1900.  It is gold washed on the scoop end and has an unusual twisted handle of graduated size.  The scoop is of substantial weight.  The stilton scoop was made by Whiting Manufacturing Company (at that time located in New York, New York).  The box has Whiting Co. trademarks and patent dates of 1896 and 1897 on the bottom and is also identified “G. Siefert Quebec” on the front.  Gustavus Siefert (1837-1907) was a German born, Canadian silversmith and retailer located in Quebec City, Quebec.  The firm was active from the 1860s to the 1930s, but was renamed G. Siefert & Sons by 1900, dating this piece from 1897-1900.

The stilton scoop is 8 3/4” (22.3cm) long.

The box is 9 1/2” (24.1cm) by 2 1/4” (5.7cm), 1 3/4” (4.5cm) high.
