Antique Birks sterling silver toast rack, made by Birks Brothers of Montreal.  The toast rack is in good and usable condition, with the impressed BIRKS STERLING mark indicating that it was made in the time period 1904-24.  Beyond your morning toast, additional ideal uses for toast racks are for napkins, letters/envelopes on a desk, or for guest towels in a powder room.
