Alfred Dunhill Art Deco enamelled silver cigarette box, circa 1925-30. The box is identified Alfred Dunhill Paris underneath the lip of the cover.
Dunhill opened the Paris location in 1924 to meet the growing demand for luxury goods pertaining to motoring and tobacco. Both the box and cover are marked with the Goddess Minerva in an octagon, the French punch mark for 950 Fine Silver, a grade of silver finer then sterling silver.
The cover is enamelled in horizontal bands of blue and white with a central cartouche of stylized red roses and green leaves in a yellow pedestal bowl. The original satin finish vermeil interior is intact.
This would be an excellent addition to any desk, hall, or coffee table.
