Victorian silver plate tea and coffee set. Manufactured by Elkington & Co. of Birmingham, England. The coffee and tea pots have hidden hinges on the lids, with ivory finials and insulators. The cream jug and open sugar bowl have gold washed interiors, with hand engraved and chased decorations throughout all four pieces.
The set is engraved with the initials CBC on one side and a lion rampant holding a spear on the other.
Elkington is one of the few English companies that devised a hallmark type of date letters, similar to the British sterling hallmarks. This set has Elkington date marks for 1873.
The teapot is 5 1/2” (14cm) high.
The coffee pot is 9” (23cm) high.
