Whimsical aquatic themed art pottery vase, MICA, Italian mid 20th century.
The vase is decorated with raised brightly enamelled fish, their exhaled air bubbles and water lilies, against a black matte ground.
Painted trademark on the base: Mica Italy K917/40
MICA, Manifattura Italiana Ceramica Artistica, established in 1928 by siblings Guilo, Giannino and Gianina Ciampi in Sesto Fiorentino, a suburb of Florence; active into the late 1950s. Their use of gold is indicative of their work after WWII.
There is a repair to one lily pad.
