Antique Dutch 833 Fine Silver Dresser Box, early 20th century. The hinged lid of the box depicts a trio of musicians dressed in 17th century attire, centered in a floral scroll border. The box is hallmarked on the bottom with the punch mark of a lion passant over the number 2 in a hexagon, the Dutch stamp for 833 Fine Silver, with the key mark intruding on the lion indicating that the box was made for export. HH is the mark of the silversmith firm of Hubertus Hooykaas of Schoonhoven, established in 1874. 4” (10.2cm) diameter, 1 1/2” (3.8cm) high. 168.2 grams. * Schoonhoven is a town in the province of South Holland, established in the 13th century.
