English Art Deco sterling silver dresser / powder jar, hallmarked for Birmingham 1938.  From the silversmith firm of Adie Brothers Ltd. of Frederick Street, Birmingham, England, made for retail by Birks in Canada.  

The screw top lid is decorated with wide bands of engine turned engraving.

3 1/2” (8.9cm) diameter, 1” (2.5cm) high.
