English Art Deco sterling silver tea set, hallmark dated for 1930/31. From the silversmith firm of Cooper Brothers & Sons Ltd of Don Plate Works Arundel Street, Sheffield and Holborn Viaduct, London. The elegantly simple set is ornamented only with a stylized frieze of shells, with each piece raised on four claw feet. The handles and finials are carved ebony. The set consists of a teapot, cream jug and open sugar bowl all dated 1931 and the hot water pot dated 1930. The set Is without monograms or presentation engravings. The teapot is 5 3/4” (14.6cm) high at the handle. The hot water pot is 7 1/8” (18.1cm) high at the handle. 1841.9 grams total weight. $5800 for the 4 piece set.
