Product Description

Early Victorian sterling silver meat dome, fully hallmarked for London 1846.  The silversmith is John Tapley whose work dates between 1833-54, retailed by Makepeace London.  The heavy gauge oval sterling silver dome is decorated with multiple raised floral and foliage motifs.  The handle is also clearly marked with John Tapley’s mark, indicating that it is the original.  The dome is engraved in Old English script on one side, most likely a “K”.

Sterling silver meat domes are very rare and this one is in pristine condition.
