Frank Beardmore hand painted art pottery vase with a pastoral scene, titled “English Autumn”. The double gourd shaped vase is painted with a young lady carrying a pail, walking amongst cattle with grazing sheep all the way around. The foreground is of green pastures, the background is of farm buildings and haystacks, with bands of fall colours of ivy at the rim and the lower register. Frank Beardmore established his business in partnership with John Christie at Sutherland Pottery, Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent in 1900. The partnership was short lived and by 1903 the company was known as Frank Beardmore & Co, in business until 1913. The vase has minor wear to the surface, wear consistent with age and use. 10 3/8” (26.4cm) high, 5 1/2” (14cm) diameter at the widest.
