George IV sterling silver tea set, hallmarked for London 1825. From the silver workshop of Rebecca Emes and Edward Bernard I, in partnership 1808-1829. Rebecca Emes was the widow of silversmith John Emes. The pieces are of a melon shaped form, with a textured leaf inspired frieze at the top register, rising from embellished shell form feet. The original four piece set is comprised of a teapot, coffee pot, cream jug and an open sugar bowl. More than a century later the Canadian owner commissioned a muffin dish to match, through Birks in Canada. The trademarks on the muffin dish are that of Ellis & Co., Empire Works, Great Hampton Street & Hall Street, Birmingham. Hallmarked for Birmingham 1937. The coffee pot is 8 1/2” (21.6cm) high. The teapot is 5” (12.7cm) high. 3485.4 total gram weight
