Product Description

George IV sterling silver tea set, English hallmarks for London 1828/9.  The silversmith is John Fry II whose mark was registered in 1826.  The teapot, creamer and sugar are dated 1828 and the coffee pot was commissioned a year later in 1829.

This exuberantly repousse decorated four piece tea set is covered in floral motifs.  The central panels on all four pieces are repeating emblems of baskets or urns of flowers.  The finials are roses and the handles are ribbons of flowers.  The pedestal bases have are decorated in a raised berry and leaf band.  

The interior of the creamer and sugar bowl are gilded.

All four pieces of the tea set have one blank cartouche, suitable for a crest or monogram.

The teapot is 6 1/2” (16.5cm) high.

The coffee pot is 10 1/2” (26.7cm) high.
