Hammered silver covered canister, with an accompanying document for recognition of an honourary membership in a Finnish hunting society.  Made in Finland, 830 Fine Silver dated 1936.  The impressed marks 813H (13 lods) is the standard of 830 Fine Silver followed by G6, the Finnish date letter and number code for 1936.  The recipient’s initials WH and the profile of a hunting dog (on the cover) are gold washed silver for contrast.  As the recipient was a pharmacist it is speculated that the shape emulates an apothecary jar in his honour and it is the exact size to hold the rolled document.  The original calligraphy document with hunting illustrations is included and the translation states:

* The Finnish Hunters’ Association was founded in 1921.  By the 1930’s the Association was actively promoting hunting culture, game management and species reintroduction.  In 1934 the Association was involved in the importation of white-tailed deer from Minnesota, USA and reintroducing beavers from central Europe in 1935.  Ahtari is  located in southern Finland.

** Walter Rudolf Haggblad (1877-1963) born and died in Finland.  He was a pharmacist; Apteekkari in Finnish.
