Riihimaen uranium glass vase, “Aurinkopullo”, (Sun Bottle) Series designed by Helena Tynell (1918-2016) in 1964. The joyful design is of a beaming sun radiating outwards. The series was made in approximately 20 different colours and in four sizes, produced until 1974. This example is made of uranium glass and is in the second (medium) size. The original paper label is intact. The Riihimaen Glass Company (Riihimaen Lasi Oy) produced decorative glass in Finland, circa 1910-90. The company is known for Mid-Century Modern at its Finnish finest! 6 3/4” (17cm) high, 5 1/4” (13.4cm) by 2 3/8” (6cm).
