Product Description

Antique blue and white transfer ware platter, made by Herculaneum, “Gate of a Mosque built by Hafiz Ramut at Pillibeat” pattern *, circa 1820.  This pattern is one of three famous Indian scenes made by the Herculaneum factory, originating from aquatints published in 1796 in “Oriental Scenery” by Thomas Daniell RA (1749-1840).  The highly detailed scene is framed within a leafy border, in a deep indigo blue.

The platter is in good condition, with very minor knife marks only.
