Howard Sterling Company sterling silver vase, made exclusively for Shreve, Crump & Low, circa 1900. This handsome hexagonal, baluster form vase has a repeating pierced design and a beaded edge rim at the top. There are multiple impressed marks on the bottom: Shreve, Crump & Low Co., H shamrock L (the symbol for Howard Sterling), Sterling, 925/1000 and 7330 (likely a design number). Howard Sterling Co. was located in Providence, RI, in business circa 1878-1902, with the trademark “H shamrock symbol L” first used in 1894. Shreve, Crump & Low is one of the oldest retailers in the USA, established in 1796 in Boston, MA.
