Substantial Empire style covered urn, in 800 Fine Silver, Italian 20th century.

The urn is richly engraved and embossed, rising from a stepped pedestal foot, with heavily cast C scrolls handles.  The finial on the lid is a figural fruit bowl spilling over with berries and leaves.

Stamped 800 and 23 AL (in an oval).  This is the trademark of I.M.A. di Guerci & c. of Via Donatello 1, Alessandria (Piedmont), Italy, after 1944.
