Ridgway in 1820, entered into partnership with Jonah Read in 1832 at Phoenix Works, Shelton.  The partnership ended in 1839 with Clementson continuing on his own.  In 1867 he retired from the business in favour of his four sons and son-in-law who renamed the business Clementson Brothers.
