Japanese 950 Fine Silver box, ideal for a desk or dressing table.  The box is wood lined and the hinged lid is decorated with engravings of bamboo shoots.  The only trademark is on the bottom:  “Sterling 950”, identifying the box as Japanese.  Sterling silver is really 925 Fine, meaning that the grade of silver is finer than sterling silver.

The box shows very minor wear, consistent with age and use.

7 1/4” (18.5cm) by 4” (10.2cm), 2” (5.1cm) high.  The top is slightly domed.
