The English firm of Arthur & Bond was established in Yokohama in 1889, catering mostly to English expatriates and foreign tourists. They were known for quality work in lacquer ware, ivory carving, silver objects, cloisonné and other forms of inlaid metal works. They were in business in Yokohama until the earthquake of 1923.
