Biedermeier era 830 Fine Silver box, made by the silversmith Carl Magnus Rydberg, dated 1820.  Rydberg was a prominent Swedish silversmith based in Stockholm, whose documented work is circa 1807-27.

The oval table box is decorated with a closed fretwork frieze at the base, rising from stylized claw feet.  The cover features a retriever / hunting dog, asleep in a curled position.

The box is identified on the inside lip of the lid:  CMR, Rydberg’s initials and fully marked on the bottom with the three crown symbol for Sweden, O3 date mark for 1820 and RYDBERG.
