Gorham Sterling Silver Jewellery Box, Dated 1899

Late Victorian sterling silver jewellery box, made by Gorham Manufacturing of Providence, Rhode Island.  The Gorham date cypher of a sickle dates the box to 1899.  The oval sterling silver box is ornamented with a continuous elaborate floral frieze all the way around.  The hinged cover has a larger blank space suitable for a monogram or a presentation engraving, framed within another floral band.  The interior lining is the original pink velvet, with minor wear, consistent with age and use.
