Victorian Pietra Dura Patch Box

Victorian Pietra Dura inlaid hardstone patch box, Italian, late 19th century.  The hinged box is brass, with the cover decorated in multiple colours of stone inlay depicting a floral spray against a black stone background.  Small decorative boxes of micro mosaic or Pietra Dura inlay were favoured “Grand Tour” souvenirs of Italy in the 18th and 19th centuries.
