Product NameLate Georgian Era Sheffield Silver Plate Wine Bottle Coasters, circa 1820-40
Product Description

Late Georgian era Sheffield silver plate wine bottle coasters, English, circa 1820-40.

The coasters have a lobed baluster body with a gadrooned rim.  The hardwood base is centered by a silver disc engraved with a family crest of a rampant horse rising from a horizontal band.  In heraldic devices a horse signifies readiness to act for one’s king and country.

The copper base metal is showing on the high points; what Sheffield enthusiasts refer to as “bleeding”.

5 1/4” (13.4cm) diameter, 1 5/8” (4.1cm) high.

$695 for the pair.
