Mason’s Imari ironstone soup tureen, cover and stand.  The impressed trademark “Mason’s Patent Ironstone China” dates the tureen circa 1813-20.

Of a hexagonal form emulating a Chinese lantern, painted in blues, rust-red, pink/peach, with prominent gilding on the floral finial and dragon head handles.

The tureen has an old museum mend to the base.  At some point in it’s history a section of the pierced base was broken and replaced with a fitted brass insert that is bolted in place.  The tureen and stand has minor chips throughout, but the colours are bright and intact.  Wear consistent with age and use.

13” (33cm) high, 14 3/4” (37.5cm) across the handles.
