Mid-century modern inlayed walnut tray, made by S. E. Overton of South Haven Michigan, circa 1950s.  The whimsical design incorporates multiple hardwood inlays to depict an 18th century style butler rushing to offer refreshments.

S. E. Overton established their furniture company in South Haven, Michigan in 1908 and acquired the Bentwood Manufacturing Company in 1934 to produce bentwood trays.  During WWII Overton produced gun stocks for the US army and resumed production of housewares after the war.
