Monumental West German pottery jug, Carstens Tonnieshof Factory.

This piece has an unusual combination of a high gloss mottled red central band between a matte grey ground above and below.  The affect is that of a piece of leather “stitched” onto the jug.

Trademarked in relief on the bottom:  W. Germany 1524-56. 

23” (58.4cm) high, 14 1/2” (36.8cm) diameter at the widest.
