Neo-classical WMF (Wurttembergische Metallwarenfabrik) centrepiece bowl, Germany, early 20th century. The silver plate frame is clearly marked for WMF with the 3rd ostrich mark, used 1910-25. Complete with the original cut glass liner; intricately cut to reflect the lines of the frame. The centrepiece has many interesting design features, including the laurel leaves on either side of the central cartouche (suitable for engraving), the floral swags, the Greek key and serpent handles, and the overall banded reed design of the frame. A true beauty!
