Handmade sterling silver tea and coffee set by the renowned Canadian silversmith Carl Poul Petersen of Montreal, circa 1940s. The four piece tea and coffee set is hand hammed with blossom finials and pierced gallery pedestal bases. The teapot, coffee pot, creamer and covered sugar are all sterling silver. The accompanying tray is also by Petersen, made to match in silver plate. It is marked Petersen Hand Made, E.P.O.C., (electro plate on copper). Petersen’s work draws heavily on the design influences of his mentor and father-in-law Georg Jensen. Petersen apprenticed under Jensen at his Copenhagen workshop before emigrating to Montreal, Canada in 1929. The coffee pot is 9 1/2” (24.1cm) high. The teapot is 6 1/2” (16.5cm) high. The tray is 20 1/4” (51.4cm) diameter, 23 3/4” (60.3cm) across the handles. 2347.0 grams total weight.
