Rare Royal Doulton “The Chestnut Mare”, figural group of a mare and foal, HN # 2522.  Designed by William Chance who was the first Royal Doulton sculptor to depict horses without riders, modelling from real life.  The English registration number of 833686 dates the design to the year 1939 and the number 13 to the right of the crown dates this specific figure to 1940.  The figure is in pristine condition; a true beauty!
