Victorian silver plate figural centrepiece featuring two lionesses, made by Reed & Barton, circa 1880-90.  Reed & Barton was established in Taunton, Mass in 1824. 

This dramatic centrepiece features two lioness at opposing ends of an oblong plinth, collared and held in place by a rose encrusted chain, which in turn is held in the beak of an eagle on either side of the central pedestal.  The cased cranberry insert is brightly enamelled with flowers and gilded leaves.

The base is 15 1/4” (38.7cm) by 6 3/4” (17.1cm), 8 1/2” (21.6cm) high.

The cranberry glass insert is 12 1/2” (31.7cm) diameter.

The total height is 11” (28cm).
