Royal Crown Derby “Mansion House” Dwarf *, painted with a Pinxton Roses vest, standing on a grassy knoll.  The figures were modelled after dwarves who wore lavish clothing and large brim hats to be noticed.  This figure is advertising “Auction of Elegant Household Furniture”.  

Signed L. Woolley on the base, with Derby date letters for 1974.

This figure is dunted (cracked) and needs to be handled carefully.

6 3/4” (17.2cm) high, 3” (7.6cm) diameter at the base. 

$300 condition noted.

 

*The Mansion House dwarves were based on a father and son duo who sold advertising on their hats in the Tudor era.  Royal Crown Derby first modelled the figures in the 1780s.
