Antique silver plate butter knives, made by Scott & Randle and retailed by Laings of Glasgow, circa 1920s.  The butter knives are ideal spreaders for soft cheese or pate.  Made by the silversmith partnership of Alexander Scott and George Randle, active 1922-1931, with business addresses in both Birmingham and Sheffield, England.  The knives are in their original box, identified by the retailer, J.R. & W. Laing, established in Glasgow, Scotland in 1840.  Laings has recently celebrated their 175th anniversary; Scotland’s oldest jewellers.  The knives are in very good condition with very minor wear only to the presentation box.

The knives are 5 1/2” (14cm) long.

The box is 7 1/4” (18.4cm) by 2 7/8” (7.3cm), 1” (2.5cm) high.
