Sheffield silver plate egg cups and stands, complete with the cups and spoons. Made in England, circa 1830-40. The set is in excellent condition! The stand is 9 1/2” (24.1cm) high, 6 3/4” (17.2cm) diameter. The egg cups are 2 3/4” (7cm) high. The spoons are 4 3/4” (12cm) long. $895 for the set. Sheffield Plate, often called Old Sheffield Plate, is a historical material and technique created by fusing a thin sheet of sterling silver onto a base metal, usually copper. Discovered in the 1740s in Sheffield, England, it provided an affordable alternative to solid sterling silver.
