Silver mounted cut crystal claret jug, from Latvia, early 20th century.
The silver hallmark of a crowned head and 875 indicates a silver fineness of 875, used in Latvia 1922-39. It has been further marked 925 for sterling silver.
The interior portions of the silver mounts are gold washed to inhibit acids from wine pitting the silver. The body of the crystal jug is cut with a cross hatched horizontal band near the top, above cut vertical grooves interspersed with geometric trailing vines.
