Spode Blue Tower Dinnerware
The “Tower” pattern was first produced by Spode circa 1814, based on illustrations from Merigot’s book “Views of Rome and its Vicinity”, published circa 1796-98. The pattern has been produced in light and dark blue, pink, green and brown, but the dark blue has been a favourite for generations. The darker flow blue, or Royal Saxon Blue as it was known then, was first produced about 1860. Printing the pattern on the Gadroon shape started in 1894.
This set is all older backstamps, circa 1894-1921.
