Antique sterling silver cattle trophy, the Scottish National “Fat Cow” award, presented in 1903. The trophy was made by Walker & Hall of Sheffield, England in 1903 and presented in the same year. The trophy is beautifully hand engraved with multiple scrolling designs and is presented on an ebonized wood base. The trophy states: Scottish National Fat Stock Club Show, for Best Fat Cow 14 1/2 cwts & upwards * Won By Thomas Watson. Waverley 1903. Market. ** The trophy is 12 1/2” (31.8cm) high, 6” (15.2cm) diameter at the rim. The base is 4” (10.2cm) high, 8 3/8” (21.3cm) diameter. 16 1/4” (41.3cm) total height. 739.7 grams total silver weight. $7500. * A “Fat Cow” refers to high fat production in dairy cows.
