Victorian walnut travelling jewellery/vanity box, circa 1880-1900.  The upper section has compartments for bottles and jars necessary for a lady’s toilette.  The lower “secret” drawer pops out on the right side by pushing down on the brass piston on the inside left of the box.  The drawer has the original jewellery fittings, including a space for a pocket watch, a long necklace and a slotted ridge to hold rings.

The brass cartouche on the cover is suitable for engraving.  It is unusual to find boxes of this age without a presentation engraving.
