Victorian era silver plate sardine box, made by Walker & Hall, Sheffield, England, circa 1890.  The cover and base have a repeating scalloped design at the rim, with a figural conch shell finial.  The glass insert has a satin / frosted finish.  Minor wear to the silver plating;  wear consistent with age and use.

Other 21st century uses for this unique Victorian box include a butter dish, candy box, jewel box, or for a desk or vanity table.
